The Janet Taylor Award is presented annually by the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation to an individual, group, or corporation that exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism and philanthropy. Recipients are recognized for their outstanding contributions through time, talent, or financial support to the Foundation and its mission of enhancing healthcare in our community.
About Janet Taylor
Janet Taylor was a long-serving board member, donor, sponsor, and volunteer whose involvement with the FSJ Hospital Foundation began in 1998. Her dedication spanned decades, supporting every campaign with her time, talents, and generous donations.
One of Janet’s most beloved initiatives was the Be an Angel campaign held each November. For ten years, she sponsored the angel lapel pins gifted to donors, sponsored guest tables at the Be an Angel Gala, and made annual contributions to the campaign. The angel on the award serves as a reminder of Janet.
Janet also had a deep connection to Bluey Day, the Foundation’s annual fundraiser for the Cancer Diagnostic & Treatment Fund. Having battled breast cancer into a ten-year remission, she understood the personal toll of the disease. In 2013, Janet stepped down from the Foundation’s Board to focus on her health and family as the cancer returned.
The blue colouring on the award is a nod to Janet’s fight and a reminder of the many lives touched by cancer. Janet’s legacy lives on through this award, which celebrates those who, like her, are passionate about improving healthcare in Fort St. John and have demonstrated the same spirit.
