Valerie Powell was honoured with the 2018 Janet Taylor Award for her decades of service to the FSJ Hospital Foundation. A board member and dedicated volunteer, Valerie helped launch key fundraising efforts, including the original Gala and campaigns for vital equipment like the first Mammography Unit. Val remained on the Foundation Board until 2005. Her passion for gardening led to the creation of the hospital’s award-winning flower garden and the Hospital Garden Guild. Valerie’s generosity, leadership, and tireless advocacy for healthcare reflect the spirit of this award, making her a truly deserving recipient of this meaningful recognition.
