When Jessie Clarke visits her husband Bill at Peace Villa, she feels a deep sense of gratitude. Bill has been living there for just about a year, and in that time, the care he’s received has been nothing short of exceptional.
“The meals have been wonderful, and the care from the aides and nurses has been fantastic,” Jessie says. “I can’t name just one person because they’ve all been so good.” His room overlooks the walking path, where he can watch people stroll by with their dogs. “That has thrilled him,” she shares with a smile. It’s these thoughtful touches that make a difference – not just for Bill, but for Jessie too.
For the Clarkes, supporting local healthcare is personal. “We’ve lived here for over 50 years, and the care for us has always been very, very good – two very’s,” Jessie emphasizes. “Fort St. John has grown tremendously, and the hospital has grown with it.”
When Jessie looks at the Be an Angel Tree, she feels a sense of community. “It shows that a lot of people are supporting,” she says. That’s why Jessie and Bill decided it was their turn to give back through the FSJ Hospital Foundation. “There isn’t a better cause you could donate to, especially at Christmastime,” Jessie says. “When I read about the equipment the campaign helps purchase, it’s amazing to know those things are right here so patients don’t have to travel.”
For Jessie, the Be an Angel Campaign is about more than ornaments on a tree. It’s about ensuring that families like hers continue to receive excellent care close to home. “Fort St. John has been so good to us over the years,” she says. “This is one way we can give back.”
As the year draws to a close, the Be an Angel tree is filled with many tribute ornaments. Each of these ornaments echo a similar story to Jessie & Bill’s, making a difference close to home through generosity. We invite you to be part of this beautiful initiative and donate to the Be an Angel Campaign today!
