The FSJ Hospital Foundation is thrilled to announce the success of the 2nd Annual Summer Scrap Drive, which raised an incredible $22,102 in support of local healthcare. With approximately 150 tons of scrap metal donated, the community once again showed its generosity and commitment to giving back.
This year the Bischoff Trophy was accepted by Josh Gilmour from Element Disposal for being the top contributor.
“We saw a lot more donations from the general public this year compared to last year,” said McLean Welsh, Commercial Buyer at ABC Recycling. “What I really noticed was that this year the engagement from the public was a lot more – lots of phone calls in the office and many small loads that came in for donation. The people are now behind this drive and it can only go up from here.” Another thank you goes our to Nordic Towing for donating all of the towing for multiple cars this drive.
The FSJ Hospital Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to ABC Recycling, who created this opportunity to give back, “Thank you to ABC Recycling for doing all the heavy lifting,” said Kelly Amboe, Executive Director of the FSJ Hospital Foundation. “The generosity of our community continues to amaze us – we’re so grateful for everyone who contributed.”
This initiative transforms scrap metal into meaningful support for local healthcare, every load of scrap donated helps fund vital equipment and at the Fort St. John Hospital. If you want to learn more about this initiative or others you can visit www.fsjhospitalfoundation.ca
