Carmen Foster began her healthcare journey in 2020 and has been a full-time member of the Medical Imaging department at Fort St. John Hospital since 2021. As an X-ray and CT technologist, she plays a vital role in diagnostic care—and now, she’s taking the next step by pursuing MRI training through NAIT.
Born and raised in Fort St. John, Carmen is proud to be giving back to the community she calls home. “I’ve seen how long wait times for imaging can cause stress and uncertainty for patients,” she said. “That’s a big part of why I’m pursuing MRI training —I want to help reduce those wait times and make sure people get the care they need sooner.”
Balancing full-time work with further education hasn’t been easy, especially while covering tuition out of pocket. That’s where the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation Educational Grant has made a difference. “It’s eased a great deal of financial stress and made this next step feel more achievable,” Carmen shared.
Her goal is to become a versatile imaging technologist who can support multiple areas of care. By adding MRI to her skill set, she hopes to improve access to essential services and strengthen the hospital’s ability to meet the needs of the community.
To the donors who make the grant possible, Carmen offered heartfelt thanks: “Your contributions have a real and personal impact—not just on healthcare workers like me, but on the patients, families, and communities we serve. Your support is helping me grow in my career and give back in a meaningful way, right here at home.”
