Kayla Henry is originally from Toronto, Ontario. After completing nursing school, she moved to Fort St. John for work. She worked for Northern Health Authority (NHA) for five years, with four of those years spent at the Community Cancer Center located in the Fort St. John Hospital. Missing home, she moved back to Toronto in 2023. However, upon returning, she realized how much she missed and loved the Peace Region and its abundant opportunities. When she heard that the Community Cancer Center was in need of an oncology nurse, Kayla felt compelled to return to Fort St. John.

Working in the Community Cancer Center is demanding but extremely fulfilling for her. The patients are incredible, and helping them through some of the most difficult times in their lives motivates her to come to work every morning. Kayla hopes that more nurses will become certified oncology nurses, improving staffing levels, which will allow more time to focus on developing therapeutic relationships and being even more present for patients undergoing cancer treatment.

She speaks highly of the team at the Community Cancer Center, stating that the nurses and doctors work collaboratively to provide the best care possible for their patients. For Kayla, they are like a second family.
