Light a Moose began in 2004 as a heartfelt grassroots initiative led by Adam Reaburn of Moose FM. With nothing more than a tent on the side of the road, Adam and Sue Popesku took to the airwaves, broadcasting live while collecting donations for the FSJ Hospital Foundation.
What started as a modest roadside fundraiser has grown into a beloved annual tradition. Today, Light a Moose spans three days each November, regardless of the weather. Moose Media and Foundation staff brave the cold to raise funds, lighting up the iconic Moose FM sign as donations climb – each bulb a symbol of community generosity and support.
Over the years, this event has become a powerful example of Fort St. John’s community spirit, bringing people together to support local healthcare and light up lives.
$20,000 Matching Donors
The goal this year is to raise $150,000 and purchase three much needed pieces of equipment for our Intensive Care Unit. To ensure our ICU is well equipped it requires; an Ultrasound with a thoracic probe to ensure accurate and immediate heart monitoring, a Transport Monitor to ensure patients requiring to be transported within the hospital for further diagnostics are monitored in real time while in transport and undergoing further diagnostics such as MRI’s and CT scans and a Temperature Management System to ensure optimal healing temperatures are maintained.
