The Fort St. John Hospital Foundation is excited to announce that registration for Bluey Day is officially open, and the community is invited to take part in one of the region’s most meaningful traditions.
Since 1999, Bluey Day has brought Fort St. John together in a powerful show of solidarity for those facing cancer. More than 1,000 heads have been shaved, with over $2.5 million raised to support local cancer diagnosis and treatment. Past participants have helped to ensure that patients in our region can receive life‑saving care close to home, surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones.
This year, we’re inviting YOU to be part of that impact. Participants will spend the coming months growing their hair and collecting pledges. On May 23rd at Centennial Park in Fort St. John, they’ll take the stage and bravely shave their heads in support of those affected by cancer. Whether you’re honouring someone special or simply want to make a difference, Bluey Day is your chance to stand up for local cancer care.
Funds raised support the Cancer Diagnostic & Treatment Fund which was created to purchase equipment used in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer right here in Fort St. John. Thanks to past Bluey Day contributions, the hospital has been able to acquire items such as infusion chairs, advanced imaging tools, and laboratory equipment that directly enhance patient care.
The Fort St. John Hospital is home to the Community Cancer Centre, one of only two clinics in northeastern B.C. providing systemic cancer therapy. The Centre currently manages more than 120 active treatment cases, making community support more important than ever. Bluey Day was voted North Peace People’s Choice Awards Best Fundraising Event in 2025, and we can’t wait to welcome new and returning participants to this year’s event.
