Endowment Funds

Planning for your future and the future of the FSJ Hospital Foundation can be mutually beneficial. Endowment funds designated to the FSJ Hospital Foundation are permanently invested to generate long-term sustainability that will ensure a source of funding readily available for future medical equipment needs in the North Peace Region; ensuring your family, loved ones, and community have access to quality medical care now and in the future. The minimum donation to establish a named endowment fund is $50,000. Donors have the opportunity to establish an endowment fund in their name or in memory of a loved one. EVELYN HADLAND ENDOWMENT FUND

As a young woman, Evelyn moved to Baldonnel from Nicomen Island and began her teaching career of 33 years. She caught the eye of local farmer, Austin Hadland, and in 1945 the couple married and began their life together on the family farm where they raised two sons. In 2016 the Hadland family lost their dear brother and son Dale, due to a brain tumor. In memory of his beloved wife and because the Fort St. John Hospital was “so good to Dale”, Austin Hadland and family established an endowment fund in Evelyn’s name to support the purchase of medical equipment and will continue to give back to help enhance the comfort and care of individuals in our community for years to come.

AUSTIN HADLAND ENDOWMENT FUND

Austin remembers the construction of the original hospital in 1931, which provided much-needed healthcare and supported the birth of his children. In 1992, Austin and Evelyn’s son Dale developed brain cancer and Austin became very passionate about the importance of local healthcare and thankful for the skill of medical staff at the North Peace Hospital. With help from local medical care, Dale survived another 24 years after being diagnosed and it is with these memories that Austin Hadland established an endowment fund, creating a lasting legacy and ensuring the best health care for generations to come for the community who rely on the Fort St John Hospital for their health care needs.
