The FSJ Hospital Foundation is deeply honoured to recognize a heartfelt gift of $25,050 made in memory of Tammy Mackenzie, a woman whose presence left an imprint on everyone lucky enough to know her.
Tammy was an enthusiastic lover of life. She grew up in Fort St. John and carried a warmth and energy that made people feel seen, valued, and welcomed. Many knew her as the proud owner of Farmhouse on Main, a dream she built from the ground up with her daughter. It was more than a business to Tammy. It was a gathering place where friendships were made, stories were shared, and community was strengthened. Creating that sense of connection was her heart’s desire, and she poured herself into bringing it to life.
In 2017, Tammy began her cancer journey. Through multiple surgeries, ongoing treatments, and countless challenges, she showed an extraordinary will to live. Her strength was quiet but powerful. She faced the hardest moments with an unwavering belief in pushing forward even when it felt impossible. Throughout her care, she received support from the medical teams at the Fort St. John Hospital and beyond.
What defined Tammy most was her kindness. She was selfless by nature. She cared for people and animals with equal tenderness and always offered help before it was ever asked for. Even while receiving treatment in Mexico, Tammy made time to assist a woman who needed personal care and support. She lovingly looked after her as if they had known each other all their lives. Acts like this were not exceptions for Tammy. They were simply who she was.
“If Tammy had been given the choice, she would have used this money to help others. She always made time for someone who needed more than she did.”
Supporting the Cancer Diagnostic and Treatment Fund felt like the truest reflection of her spirit. This gift ensures that other patients in our region will have access to improved care, earlier diagnosis, and the support they need during their own journeys. Tammy’s legacy is one of compassion, courage, and community. Her memory continues to inspire everyone whose lives she touched.
Her light continues in every act of care made possible through this gift.
