With over 15 years of experience as a Medical Radiation Technologist, Marlon Timoteo brings a wealth of expertise to the Fort St. John Hospital. Originally trained in the Philippines and having worked in both his home country and the UAE, Marlon and his family made the life-changing move to Canada in 2021. Since then, he has continued his career as a full-time MR Technologist, embracing the opportunity to contribute to Canada’s healthcare system while adapting to new technologies and standards of care.

Now, Marlon is taking the next step in his professional journey by pursuing his CT certification through the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists’ CT Imaging Certificate (CAMRT CTIC) program. With prior experience in CT, formalizing his credentials in Canada felt like a natural progression—one that allows him to practice with confidence and meet national standards.

Receiving the FSJ Hospital Foundation Education Grant has been a meaningful milestone for Marlon. “It has helped relieve some of the financial burden associated with pursuing my CT certification,” he shared. “This support not only makes continuing education more accessible, but also strengthens my motivation to grow professionally and contribute even more to patient care at the Fort St. John Hospital.”

Marlon’s goals in healthcare are rooted in versatility and service. In addition to completing his CT certification, he is preparing to take the board exam for Radiologic Technology this September. This will qualify him to practice across MRI, CT, and general X-ray imaging—an asset in a smaller community where flexible staffing is essential. “Expanding my skill set allows me to step in where needed, helping reduce coverage gaps, lighten the workload for colleagues, and ensure patients receive timely and high-quality diagnostic care,” he explained.

To the donors of the FSJ Hospital Foundation, Marlon extends his heartfelt gratitude. “Receiving this education grant has not only helped ease the financial aspect of pursuing further certification, but it has also encouraged me to keep moving forward in my professional development.”

Marlon’s story is a testament to the power of continued learning and the impact of community support. His dedication to advancing his skills ensures that Fort St. John Hospital—and the patients it serves—benefit from compassionate, capable, and ever-evolving care.
