With the arrival of the MRI Body Coil our medical imaging department now has improved diagnostic capabilities. The MRI Body Coil provides a vast improvement in image quality when viewing areas such as the abdomen, pelvis, hip, rectal, prostate, cervix, and uterus, this will improve the chance of early discovery of malignancies and in turn will allow for early treatment options for patients. Approximately 3000 to 3500 patients will be impacted this per year. This MRI Coil reduces the scan time, by as much as 25% which equates to less time on the table for patients. It also is able to scan abdomen and pelvis at the same time, reducing the need for patients to return for a second time.
