The Fort St. Hospital Foundation proudly announces the opening of registration for Bluey Day. Bluey Day is the largest peer to peer fundraising event held annually in Fort St. John, engaging 966 participants over 25 years who’s combined efforts have raised over $2.4 Million. All funds raised through Bluey Day support the purchase essential medical equipment for early cancer diagnosis and treatment here in Fort St. John.

The Fort St. John Community Cancer Centre is one of only two clinics in the northeastern BC providing systemic cancer therapy (e.g. chemotherapy).  According to the Community Cancer Centre, they are presently managing approximately 120 active treatment cases and 20 follow-ups.

Over the years, Bluey Day fundraising has advanced our hospital’s capacity to diagnose and treat cancer. This not only saves lives but elevates care where it matters most, here in Fort St John. Through acquisitions of diagnostic and treatment equipment, patients can access the same level of care available in larger centers, all within the comfort of our community, surrounded by family and friends.

Those who choose to participate Bluey Day will spend the next few months growing their hair and collecting pledges from the community, on Bluey day they will then have their head shaved. This act of bravery shows their support for family, friends and the community.

Bluey Day is scheduled to take place May 24, at Centennial Park and is open to the public. The FSJ Hospital Foundation invites you to make a difference.
